What's New Archive (2008-2009)

• May 30, 2009. Congratulations to the Dayspring Christian Academy class of 2009!
  

  And congratulations to Heidi Mock (Valedictorian, Class of 2009) for receiving the Elbert H. and Evelyn J. Waldron College of Health and Human Services Presidential Scholarship from the the Radford University Foundation Scholars Program. This scholarship includes in-state tuition and fees, room and board, and also an annual book stipend. Heidi will be pursuing a degree in nursing and hopes to one day do missionary work as a nurse overseas.

  

  Congratulations also to Hannah Anderson (Salutatorian, Class of 2009) for receiving the Radford University Academic Excellence Scholarship and The Winston and Elma Dowdy Scholarship.

  

• May 20, 2009. Congratulations to senior Hannah Anderson on receiving a $1,000 scholarship from Pappa John's Pizza. Representatives from Pappa John's came to campus today to surprise Hannah with the award, and to deliver free pizza to the students and staff!
  

• May 1, 2009. More than 30 students travelled to Roanoke for the Math Olympics today. Great job everyone!
  

• March 31, 2009. Dayspring's Literacy Week featured many activities to celebrate and enjoy reading, including a visit from author CeCe Bell.
  

• March 31, 2009. Students welcomed dozens of grandparents to campus today for a special program honoring these special people in our lives!
  

• March 24, 2009. The biennial Humanaties Fair culminated today with projects displayed and performances shared. Classmates, friends and families celebrated the creativity of the Creator reflected through the energy and imagination of virtually every Dayspring student. • March 23, 2009. Dayspring's Literacy Week, "Readers are Leaders", will be held March 30 through April 3. More details here.
  

• March 7, 2009. The VACA state basketball tournament ended today, with Dayspring finishing 3rd, and saying goodbye to a great senior class. Below, the team is joined in prayer by DCA fans, parents, students & friends before the start of the game.
  

• February 13, 2009. The "Can the Van Food Drive" ended today with 2821 items collected for the InterFaith Food Pantry, far exceeding the goal of 2,000 set by Dayspring student leaders!
  

• January 20, 2009. Dayspring students and staff were blessed by a visit from the MIZERO Children of Rwanda Choir today. They brought a message of forgiveness and hope, through song, drumming and dancing.
  

• December 12, 2008. The annual Elementary Christmas Program featured students from grades K-2 presenting "A Song of Joy," and grades 3-5 presenting "The Christmas County Spelling Bee."
  

  

• November 7, 2008. Thank you to all who participated in the Dayspring Community Serve-A-Thon! It was a great day to get out in the community to make a positive difference for people in need, and have some fun too! See the photo gallery for pictures. Contributions are still being accepted in recognition of all the hard work put in by Dayspring students.

• October 3, 2008. The senior volleyball players were honored at the last home game of the season. Congratulations girls!
  

• September 24, 2008. Dayspring students and staff gathered at both campuses this morning for the annual "See You at the Pole" (or in our case, "See you at the Cross") prayer time.
