• May 31, 2008. Congratulations to the Dayspring Christian Academy class of 2008!
  

• May 9, 2008. Today administrator Dug Hampton recruited music teacher Sharon Knight and Dayspring elementary students to help provide background vocals for Mr. Hampton's CD recording project. Thanks to our friends at the Blacksburg Church of God for the use of their beautiful sanctury.
  
• May 6, 2008. Dayspring students capped off a fun Spirit Week with the annual Field Day. It was a great day of fun and friendly competition for students and faculty.
  

• April 25, 2008. Dayspring students from grades 3-8 participated in the annual ACSI Math Olympics hosted by Roanoke Valley Christian School today. A number of students won first place along with a medal for scoring 85% or above. Many other students received ribbons for placing in the competition. Congratulations to all the Dayspring participants!
  

• April 16, 2008. Students in kindergarten through 5th grade had a special visitor at chapel today when local author Tristan Perry came to read from her book Furry Tails: The Adventures of Cinnamon Persimmon. The children loved hearing the tails of the poodle Cinnamon. They also enjoyed the opportunity to ask the author questions about the story, and about the writing and publication process. A special thank you to Tristan for visiting Dayspring! Her book is available at the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library and local bookstores.
  

• April 9, 2008. Spring sports seasons are well under way for golf, girls soccer and boys soccer. Congratulations to the girls soccer team for an exciting 3-2 victory yesterday over the Roanoke Valley Home Schoolers!
  

• March 7, 2008. Dayspring spellers had a great time participating in the ASCI district (K-8) Spelling Bee held at Roanoke Valley Christian School. That's "Spelling Bee" ... "S" "p" "e" "l" ...
  

• March 5, 2008. Dayspring students did exceptionally well at the regional science fair last week. Seven DCA students participated, with individual awards going to Chris Shelor (9th grade), Elsa Wieboldt (9th grade) and Mary Kate Dodge (8th grade). Two more Dayspring students, Taylor Jones (9th grade) and Zachary Brown (10th grade), recieved Honorable Mention recognition. Dayspring placed second among all schools participating in terms of the number of individual awards and recognitions received. Congratulations science students!

• March 1, 2008. Congratulations to the boys varsity basketball team on winning their third straight VACA state championship.
  

• February 16, 2008. Dayspring students concluded an exciting "can-the-van" food drive this week, contributing over 1800 cans of food for the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry.

• January 31, 2008. Congratulations to all the middle schoolers and high schoolers on their science fair projects. And a big thank-you to the science teachers, parent volunteers and judges as well! Most of the top young DCA scientists from this year are pictured below.
  

• January 26, 2008. Congratulations to the Middle School girls basketball team, winners of the Sportsmanship Award at the 2008 Middle School basketball tournament, held at Faith Christian School, Hurt, VA.
  

• December 7, 2007. Limo lunch to celebrate magazine sales fundraiser.
  

• December 3, 2007. Congratulations to Morgan Paulette on being selected for the 2007 NACA Soccer All-American Team.
  

  Morgan received this honor based on his outstanding play and sportsmanship during the NACA Soccer tournament in October. The All-American team is featured on the website www.fbc-naca.org.

• November 14, 2007. The boys soccer team concluded a very successful 2007 season with a second place finish in the Division I National Association of Christian Atheletes (NACA) tournament in Dayton, TN. See this article for more details about the Lions season. Congratulations to Coach Cousins and Eisenback and all the guys!

• October 30, 2007. Congratulations to the boys soccer team for successfully defending their VACA state championship on Saturday.
  

• October 12, 2007. Congratulations to Joshua Anderson and Beth Dellinger on being recognized as Commended Students from the 2008 National Merit Scholarship Program. Joshua (full-time Dayspring student) and Beth (part-time Dayspring student) scored in the top 5% of the more than 1.4 million students who took the test during the fall 2006.

  In addition to working hard on PSAT and SAT tests, Beth Dellinger wrote her first book in May and submitted it to a chapter book competition sponsored by Bethany House Publishers. Her book was selected as one of the 12 semifinalists out of more than 1,000 entries. Beth now has the privilege of receiving feedback from experts in the field as she moves on to write other books. A special thank you to Miss Crum for encouraging her and other English students to participate in the competition.

• October 3, 2007. Congratulations to Aaron Larson, Joey Mock and Chelsea Saville-Reynolds on their outstanding performance on the May 2007 advanced placement (AP) exams. Larson and Mock qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, with grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Saville-Reynolds qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, with grades of 3 or higher on four or more exams. Only 18 percent of the more than 1.4 million high school students who took AP exams receive this recognition.
