- March 16, 2012.
This week DCA students celebrated "Readers are Leaders" week with
lots of great books and activities. This year's theme was
"Reading Takes You Places."
Each day a reader representing a different continent came to read to the elementary
students, and on Friday students enjoyed a visit from
illustrator Stephanie Whitlock Dicken.
- March 2, 2012. Congratulations to all the Dayspring students who
competed in the ASCI Spelling Bee today in Roanoke.
Pictured below are the elementary (top) and middle school (bottom) participants
from DCA.
- February 29, 2012. Dayspring students have been enjoying Spirit Week,
as a way of shoing support for the guys varsity basketball team and everyone
involved in the regional spelling bee. Each day had a unique theme, including
crazy hat and hair day (pictured here), favorite character day, and backwards day.

Congratulations to all the participants
in the secondary grades science fair, and a big
thank you to the organizers (Mr. Farmer and Mrs. Koene),
the judges, and everyone who helped with setup and refreshments.

Congratulations to the MS Girls basketball team on winning the
annual tournament hosted by Faith Christian Academy (Hurt, VA).
Way to go girls and coaches Linkous and Morrill!

Tonight the secondary chorus and ensemble presented their Christmas
Celebration concert.
- December 1, 2011.
Senior Andrew Lucas and Coach Dug Hampton were honored after the boys varsity
basketball game this evening---Andrew for 2000 varsity points and Coach Hampton for his
400th varsity victory. Way to go guys!
- October 31, 2011.
Dayspring's annual service day today was a great opportunity for students
and staff to get out in the community to share the love of Christ, and have
some fun!
- October 8, 2011.
This past week was secondary field trip week at DCA, with fun and educational trips
to Knoxville & Huntsville (6th grade), Williamsburg & Jamestown (7th),
Richmond (8th), Philadelphia (9th & 10th), and Chicago (11th & 12th).
Here the 9th and 10th graders get ready to board their bus early on Tuesday
morning.
- September 28, 2011. Parents, students and staff gathered at both DCA campuses
today for the annual "See You At The Poll" prayer time, joining with
thousands around the nation to pray for schools and communites.
- September 7, 2011.
The DCA Service Club got off to a great start with
a big turnout at its first meeting today, with lots of energy
and good ideas for projects for the year ahead.
The first service project will be a
food drive at Kroger on Saturday, September 17.
- August 17, 2011.
Dayspring faculty and staff are getting geared up for the new school year
with a busy week of orientation.
This year's devotions focused on our theme for the year: "Love bears all things,
believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things" (I Corinthians 13:7).
- August 8, 2011.
The Dayspring Student Officers are meeting this week to make plans for the 2011-2012
school year, beginning with orientation events next week!
