General Curriculum Information
Dayspring Christian Academy has been in existence since 1980 when we opened
our doors as a preschool. Today we house K-12th grade with a very
comprehensive Christian based education program. We offer a diverse elementary
and secondary curriculum with excellence in education and a Biblical
foundation. Additionally, we offer a variety of extra-curricular activities including:
fine arts, clubs and sports.
To date over 93% of our graduates have been accepted at some of the nation's
finest colleges and
universities including: The US Naval Academy, US Air Force Academy, Duke
University, Cornell University, Carnegie-Mellon, Virginia Tech, James
Madison, Messiah, Covenant and many others. Most of our graduates receive early admissions and sizable scholarships and
grants. Our average SAT score for the past six years exceeds 1100. We have also
had a National Merit Scholar, Intel 48th International Science and Engineering
Fair Winner, Regional Science and Engineering Fair Grand Winner, and First Place
Earth and Science Fair Winner.
It is our goal to structure and prepare young people for a lifetime of
Christian service regardless of their career or vocational objectives.
The school provides skill and interest assessment tools through Kuder, Inc.
(www.kuder.com). These services provide high school students with lifelong
access to career planning, job search, and resume building tools.
Our Elementary and Secondary School Programs use a variety of materials to meet
our objectives including: combinations of A-Beka, ACSI, Holt, Bob Jones, EPS,
and other material for all our academic courses. We use Standard
Publishing and ASCI materials for our Elementary Bible program.
Our Director of Curriculum Development and our teachers have established an
overall curriculum unique to
Dayspring Christian Academy that is designed to meet or exceed
Virginia state requirements.
We continue to assess and improve our academic program from year to year
through staff and parental involvement.
